Fastings

Recently I am thinking about experimenting two fastings.

The first is from internet, that should be the easier one. Some time ago I thought that I might benefit from unplugging the cable from the network for a short period, but I didn’t translate that idea into action since then. Then I saw a talk show on television and one of the guests, the italian journalist Beppe Severgnini, was saying exactly the same: that he was away from internet for one week. And I tought “see, he is doing that! I want to do the same”. And I will. Not this upcoming week, because I have to do some necessary work online, but probably in the week 5-11 March.

The second is from food. I am reading more and more about how good for health this is. I’ve found that it is great to eliminate toxins and to cleanse the body. Unfurtunately this fasting is very demanding, it requires no physical activity for the period you do it, and has a series of side effects like headache, cramps, nausea (due to the toxins removal). But this is not the part that keeps me from doing it, instead I am concerned about providing calcium to my bones (which is a major issue for me considering my hemivertebrae) and secondly I am slightly worried about losing hair. Yes… this one is purely aesthetic. Actually I know that the impact of a short term fasting on these two is little if not zero, but I am so sensitive about both arguments that so far I haven’t found the courage to do it. 🙂
