Fastings

Recently I am thinking about experimenting two fastings.

The first is from internet, that should be the easier one. Some time ago I thought that I might benefit from unplugging the cable from the network for a short period, but I didn’t translate that idea into action since then. Then I saw a talk show on television and one of the guests, the italian journalist Beppe Severgnini, was saying exactly the same: that he was away from internet for one week. And I tought “see, he is doing that! I want to do the same”. And I will. Not this upcoming week, because I have to do some necessary work online, but probably in the week 5-11 March.

The second is from food. I am reading more and more about how good for health this is. I’ve found that it is great to eliminate toxins and to cleanse the body. Unfurtunately this fasting is very demanding, it requires no physical activity for the period you do it, and has a series of side effects like headache, cramps, nausea (due to the toxins removal). But this is not the part that keeps me from doing it, instead I am concerned about providing calcium to my bones (which is a major issue for me considering my hemivertebrae) and secondly I am slightly worried about losing hair. Yes… this one is purely aesthetic. Actually I know that the impact of a short term fasting on these two is little if not zero, but I am so sensitive about both arguments that so far I haven’t found the courage to do it. 🙂

One found! But the other?

My body is a wreck, some of its oddities cause me a lot of problems. But it also has some weird, harmless features that I find quite funny. Here I want to discuss two of these.

The first is a condition that I remember having since I was a child. I never knew it was a recognized phenomenon, but it is! And I found its name few days ago, only at the age of 30. I must say, it gives you a very pleasant sensation when you know that something weird you have is not yours only, but others have it. And that it has also a name: Photic sneeze reflex. Simply explained: bright light makes me sneeze. Continue reading

Something big is happening in Internet. Something that worries me.

Google, number one search engine in the web, has an undisputable monopoly in search. It has gained it deservedly, providing high quality results for years.

But Google wants to take another market, the social. That’s not a recent desire, they have tried many times to beat Facebook. They haven’t succeeded so far: the most recent and evident flops were called Buzz and Wave. Both closed.

Then arrived Plus. Following a big launch and really encouraging results at the beginning, there was a stop. Many people registered, tested it, but went back to Facebook.

Another failure? At Google they don’t seem to be available to accept it, Continue reading
